UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) introduced CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test) in 2011 Preliminary Examination to test the candidate’s ability on analytical skill, a key criterion required for future bureaucrat. Since 2011, it is very much evident that the weightage for CSAT paper (General Studies Paper II) is higher in comparison to the General Studies paper. In 2014 Preliminary notification UPSC stated minimum qualifying marks for preliminary General studies paper is 30 and for CSAT it is 70! In order to crack Civil Services Examination and get entry ticket for Mains examination, a good score in Civil Services Aptitude Test can play a significant role.
There is a myth surrounding around CSAT preparation that only who have technical background with sound English knowledge students are cracking this exam easily but in reality it is not so. In the last four years, the questions asked in the prelim General Studies Paper II are of the level of 10th standard only. Students who have proper guidance and practice can easily solve the analytical and reasoning based questions.
